A Digital Water Show Beside Tripoli’s Red Castle

Al-Saraya Al-Hamra Lake Digital Fountain Project, Tripoli, Libya

Huaxin Fountain undertook the fountain-system engineering and construction for the Al-Saraya Al-Hamra Lake fountain in central Tripoli, Libya.

Built across an approximately 100 m × 10 m water area beside the historic Red Castle, the project was developed as a large-scale programmable water show rather than a conventional decorative fountain.

Building a Large Digital Water Show on Saraya Lake

The Al-Saraya Al-Hamra Lake fountain was developed as a major public water-show installation in the heart of Tripoli.

The site differs significantly from a conventional hotel, shopping mall, or purpose-built fountain basin. The fountain is installed directly within an existing lake environment, with an elongated fountain area of approximately 100 m × 10 m.

For Huaxin Fountain, the engineering task was therefore not simply to arrange a large number of nozzles.

The complete fountain had to operate as one coordinated hydraulic, electrical, and control system across a long installation while supporting:

multiple pump capacities;
static and moving water effects;
60 m high jets;
compressed-air fountain effects;
more than one thousand DMX lighting points;
laser and audio systems;
long-distance power and signal transmission;
and synchronized musical programming.

The result is a programmable digital fountain capable of moving between low, rhythmic sequences and large-scale high-energy scenes without relying on one repetitive water pattern.
