Furat Mall Circular Dancing Fountain Project, Najaf, Iraq

Huaxin Fountain designed and supplied the circular dancing fountain system for Furat Mall in Najaf, Iraq.

Organized around a central 35 m high jet, the fountain uses concentric rings of 2D moving jets, running sequences, variable-pattern effects, flame and phoenix-tail jets to build the show outward from the center.

Underwater lighting, moving-head lights, and lasers add a second visual layer after dark, creating a compact but highly varied musical fountain within the mall plaza.

DESIGNED FROM THE CENTER OUT

A Circular Fountain With a Clear Visual Hierarchy

Unlike a long linear fountain, the Furat Mall project is organized around a single central point.
The 35 m main jet forms the highest and strongest element of the composition. Around it, different water effects are arranged in concentric circular zones, allowing the performance to expand and contract visually from the center toward the outer edge.
This creates a clear hierarchy.
The center provides height.
The inner rings introduce movement.
Running jets create rhythm around the circle.
Variable-pattern and 2D systems change the shape of the show.
Flame and phoenix-tail effects create stronger accents in selected scenes.
The result is a fountain whose choreography can move both around the circle and between the center and outer rings, rather than relying on one repeated water pattern.

WATER EFFECTS IN CONCENTRIC LAYERS

35 m Central Main Jet

The central high jet provides the main vertical climax of the fountain.

At approximately 35 metres, it rises well above the surrounding water effects and gives the circular composition a strong visual center.

During programming, the main jet can be held back during lower-intensity scenes and introduced when the show requires a stronger focal point.

2D Moving Jets

The fountain includes digitally controlled 2D moving systems with a designed water height of approximately 12 m.

These jets introduce directional movement around the center of the fountain.

Instead of only changing water height, the 2D mechanisms allow the streams to change angle and direction, giving the circular layout a more dynamic character.

Two Levels of Running Fountain

Two running-fountain groups are designed at different heights — approximately 10 m and 6 m.

Their sequential activation creates movement around the circular layout.

Because the fountain does not have a long linear axis like the Grand Majidi Mall project, the running effect here serves a different purpose: it creates rotational rhythm around the center.

The two height levels also allow the programming to build from smaller sequences into stronger circular movements.

Variable-Pattern & Phoenix-Tail Effects

Variable-pattern fountain units add changing water formations at approximately 6 m, while the outer phoenix-tail effects create a lower, broader visual layer at approximately 3.5 m.

Together they help connect the tall central and moving effects with the lower perimeter of the fountain.

This creates a more complete circular composition instead of leaving the show visually concentrated only at the center.

WATER AND FLAME IN THE SAME COMPOSITION

Flame adds a very different visual quality to the Furat Mall fountain.

The project includes 12 flame units, positioned as part of the circular water-effect arrangement rather than as a separate show element.

At approximately 2.5 m, the flame effects remain lower than the major water jets, allowing them to create brief warm-colored accents beneath the higher water formations.
They are used selectively during programming to mark transitions and stronger musical moments.

This contrast between water movement, colored lighting, and flame is one of the more distinctive features of the project.

A LIGHTING SYSTEM BUILT AROUND THE CIRCLE

The nighttime presentation combines several lighting layers.

The fountain system includes 304 DMX512 underwater lights, distributed across the different fountain zones to illuminate both static and moving water effects.

Around the fountain, 20 waterproof 550 W moving-head beam lights extend the show beyond the water surface.

The project drawing also incorporates two 20 W RGB laser units.

Rather than using these elements independently, the control system coordinates water, underwater lighting, moving-head beams, and laser effects as part of the same musical sequence.

The circular layout makes this particularly effective: lighting can reinforce the center, follow individual rings, or expand outward together with the water choreography.

THE ENGINEERING BEHIND A COMPACT FOOTPRINT

Although the fountain occupies a relatively compact circular footprint, the system contains multiple independently controlled water-effect groups.

The equipment package includes 37 fountain pumps, multiple VFD-controlled pump groups, stainless-steel pipelines, moving fountain mechanisms, flame systems, DMX underwater lighting, and seven fountain control cabinets.

Each group has a different hydraulic and control requirement.

The 35 m central jet requires significantly different pump performance from the lower running and phoenix-tail effects, while 2D and variable-pattern systems also require dedicated control for movement.

The project therefore had to be engineered as several coordinated fountain zones operating within one circular layout.

This zoning gives the programming team the flexibility to create different combinations without running the complete system at the same intensity throughout every show.

ON-SITE TECHNICAL GUIDANCE IN NAJAF

Huaxin Fountain sent an engineer to Najaf during the installation stage.

The local construction team carried out the physical installation, while the Huaxin engineer provided technical guidance for equipment positioning, pipeline and electrical connections, moving fountain devices, and preparation for commissioning.

For a circular fountain, accurate positioning is particularly important because small alignment differences can become visually obvious when effects are repeated around the same center.

Following installation, the hydraulic, lighting, and control systems were coordinated for commissioning and final fountain programming.

PROJECT RESULT

A Show That Expands Around a Single Center

The completed Furat Mall dancing fountain is defined by its circular composition.
Instead of creating movement in one direction, the performance develops around the center.

The 35 m main jet provides the vertical anchor.

2D systems introduce directional movement.

Running fountains carry rhythm around the circle.

Variable-pattern and phoenix-tail effects create intermediate and lower layers.

Flame adds sudden contrast.

Underwater lights, moving-head beams, and lasers extend the composition into the surrounding nighttime space.

Together, these systems allow a relatively compact fountain footprint to produce a wide range of visual scenes without losing the clarity of the original circular design.

HUAXIN FOUNTAIN PROJECT SCOPE

Planning a Circular Fountain for a Mall or Public Plaza?

Circular fountains require more than arranging nozzles around a ring.

The relationship between the center, surrounding water-effect layers, viewing distance, and show hierarchy determines how clearly the fountain reads from different directions.

Send Huaxin Fountain your site dimensions, drawings, and preferred effects. Our engineering team can develop the fountain layout, equipment configuration, and show system around the actual geometry of your project.
