Grand Majidi Mall Dancing Fountain Project, Erbil, Iraq

Huaxin Fountain designed and supplied the musical dancing fountain system for Grand Majidi Mall in Erbil, Iraq.

Built within a long 125 m × 8 m pool, the project uses the length of the site as part of the performance. Running jets, digitally controlled moving effects, rotating formations, and synchronized lighting create continuous movement along the fountain instead of concentrating the show around a single central feature.

A FOUNTAIN DESIGNED AROUND LENGTH

125 Metres of Linear Water Choreography

The most distinctive condition of the Grand Majidi Mall fountain is its proportion.

At approximately 125 metres long but only 8 metres wide, the pool creates a strongly linear viewing experience. Repeating the same fountain pattern throughout this length would make the installation appear static and repetitive.

The design therefore uses movement along the long axis of the pool as one of its main visual elements.

Water effects can activate progressively from one section to another, while moving and rotating systems interrupt the long line with different directions and shapes.

Instead of treating the 125 m pool as one continuous block, the fountain is divided visually into changing sequences that can be recombined through programming.

WATER EFFECTS THAT MOVE THROUGH THE SPACE

Running & Chasing Sequences

The long pool is particularly suited to running water effects.

Jet groups activate progressively along the fountain, creating the impression that the water is travelling through the 125 m installation.

This type of sequential movement emphasizes the length of the pool and creates a clear visual rhythm during faster musical sections.

Digital Swing Effects

Digitally controlled moving fountain devices introduce another direction of movement.

Groups of jets can swing together, alternate between sections, or form wave-like sequences across the pool.

Combined with the running effects, this prevents the performance from relying only on changes in water height.

Rotating & Inward-Arching Effects

Rotating basket formations and inward-arching jets create stronger focal points within the otherwise linear layout.

Their different geometry helps divide the long fountain visually and gives individual sections of the show a distinct character.

Straight Jets

Straight jets provide the underlying structure of the fountain.

They can form clean continuous lines, operate in independent groups, or support the more dynamic water effects during larger sequences.

FROM LINEAR WATER FEATURE TO MUSICAL PERFORMANCE

Water movement is coordinated with underwater lighting, laser, and professional audio through the fountain control system.

The programming does not require all 125 metres of equipment to operate at maximum intensity at the same time.

Instead, different sections can enter and leave the performance according to the music.

A sequence may begin with restrained straight jets, move into running effects along the pool, introduce swinging and rotating patterns, and then build into a larger combination of water and lighting.

This approach gives the long fountain more visual depth and allows multiple show sequences to be created from the same physical layout.

ENGINEERED AS A ZONED FOUNTAIN SYSTEM

The elongated pool required the fountain equipment to be organized into multiple independently controlled zones.

Pumps, stainless-steel pipelines, nozzles, moving fountain mechanisms, lighting, and control equipment were configured according to the different water-effect groups shown in the project design.

This allows individual sections of the fountain to respond independently during show programming.

The project system also incorporates laser, professional audio, and water-treatment equipment, creating a complete fountain installation for regular commercial operation.

Rather than adding these systems separately after the water-effect design was completed, the hydraulic, electrical, and control requirements were coordinated as part of the overall fountain scheme.

ON-SITE TECHNICAL GUIDANCE IN ERBIL

Huaxin Fountain sent an engineer to Erbil during the project installation stage.

The local installation team carried out the physical construction and installation work, while the Huaxin engineer provided technical guidance for equipment positioning, pipeline and system connections, installation coordination, and preparation for commissioning.

This was particularly important for a 125 m-long installation containing multiple water-effect zones, as the final performance depends on the equipment being installed according to the designed positions and control grouping.

After installation, the fountain system was tested and coordinated for final show programming.

PROJECT RESULT

Turning a Long Mall Water Feature Into a Moving Show

The completed Grand Majidi Mall dancing fountain uses its elongated geometry as an advantage rather than a limitation.

Running sequences make movement visible across the full length of the pool.

Swing effects introduce directional choreography.

Rotating and inward-arching formations create focal points between the longer linear sections.

Straight jets provide the visual structure that connects the different scenes.

At night, lighting and laser extend these movements beyond the water itself, while music provides the timing for the complete performance.

The result is a fountain designed specifically for a long commercial frontage — one where the show can unfold across the space rather than remaining concentrated at a single point.

FAQ

The fountain is located at Grand Majidi Mall in Erbil, Iraq.

According to the project design drawing, the fountain pool is approximately 125 metres long and 8 metres wide.

The project combines running jets, digitally controlled swing effects, straight jets, rotating basket effects, and inward-arching water formations.

The pool is long and narrow. Sequential, swinging, and rotating effects introduce movement along the 125 m layout and prevent the fountain from appearing as one repetitive line of static jets.

Yes. Fountain effects, underwater lighting, laser, and professional audio are coordinated through the control system for programmed musical performances.

The physical installation was carried out by the local installation team. Huaxin sent an engineer to Erbil to provide on-site technical guidance, followed by system commissioning and programming support.

Yes. Huaxin provides custom fountain design, equipment manufacturing, control systems, installation guidance, commissioning, and programming for shopping malls and other commercial developments.
