A Musical Fountain for Community Leisure

The Bismillah Phase 2 dancing fountain is part of the leisure facilities at Bismillah Housing Society Phase 2, a development on Main Ferozepur Road in Mustafabad, Kasur District, Punjab.

The fountain layout combines a central feature, two side compositions, and curved chasing-jet lines. Eight water-effect groups work with underwater lighting, outdoor audio, and fountain-control software to create the musical display.

Fountain Layout: Three Focal Points and Curved Jet Lines

The 52 × 20 m plan arranges the fountain around three circular compositions: one central feature and two smaller features on either side.

The central high jet provides the main vertical accent. Secondary high jets and outward-arching effects establish the two side features, while long curved chasing-jet lines extend the composition across the pool. Additional fan and arching effects introduce wider water formations.

This arrangement gives the programme several distinct elements to work with: height at the centre, balanced movement on either side and travelling sequences along the curved lines.

Eight Water Effects Across the Pool

The equipment schedule specifies eight water-effect groups, ranging from the central high jet to individual valve-controlled chasing jets.

Water EffectNozzle QuantityDesign Parameters
Central High Jet130 m jet height
Long-Throw Arching Jets210 m height and 20 m span
Secondary High Jets220 m jet height
Single-Axis Swinging Jets168 m jet height
Vertical Jets2010 m jet height
Outward-Arching Jets406 m jet height
Chasing Jets1606 m jet height
Peacock-Tail Fan Jets766 m jet height

The heights and span above are design values specified in the project schedule.

The 16 single-axis mechanisms introduce directional movement, while 160 individually valved chasing jets support sequential activation along the curved lines. Peacock-tail fans and outward-arching jets add broader formations around the taller vertical features.

Together, these effects provide contrasting movements and scales for the musical programme.

Lighting, Pump Control and Outdoor Audio

DMX512 Underwater Lighting

The project schedule includes 386 DMX512 underwater lights distributed across the eight water-effect groups. The lighting configuration uses 24 V DC power supplies and stainless steel fixture housings.
Lighting is arranged around the individual water effects, allowing colour changes to follow the fountain’s different formations and sequences.

Pump and Motion Control

The fountain uses 25 pumps. The central high jet and two long-throw arching jets are assigned three soft starters, while the remaining pump groups use 22 variable-frequency drives.
The control configuration also includes 16 single-axis swinging mechanisms and 160 solenoid valves for the chasing jets. Six control cabinets, a dedicated computer, and fountain-control software provide the electrical and programming infrastructure.

Outdoor Audio

The audio package includes eight outdoor loudspeakers, four power amplifiers, a 12-channel mixer and a digital audio processor.
Together with the fountain-control system, this equipment supports a coordinated presentation of water movement, lighting and music.

Installation Inside the Fountain Pool

The installation photographs show stainless steel distribution pipes and nozzle assemblies mounted on support frames inside the pool. Curved pipe runs follow the chasing-jet layout, while circular assemblies define the central and side features.

The project schedule specifies 304 stainless steel for the fountain nozzles and main distribution pipework. Underwater lights and electrical connections are arranged alongside the water-effect assemblies.

These photographs show how the layout drawing translates into the physical equipment arrangement before the pool is filled and the completed fountain operates.

Completed Fountain Gallery

The completed display combines tall central features, side jets, and lower fan formations across the pool. Coloured underwater lighting highlights the different water shapes, with reflections extending the visual effect across the water surface.
